Yurek Pharmacy Façade

We deconstructed the entire face of a hundred plus year old building. We then proceeded to rebuild it using modern methods, while using a heritage style brick which we laid in the original pattern restoring the original look of the building. If one were to compare it with a historical photo featuring a Model T Ford (circa 1920), one would not know that those bricks are not the originals.

The modern methods of construction, including innovative materials to greatly improve building envelope air sealing, reduced the client’s natural gas usage by 25% year over year! This facility could use backup power systems, and has excellent solar opportunity, which would improve their energy costs and reliability.

Sustainable Housing Prototype

New land acquisition for RECCC Mission Offices and prototype project.

Coming soon! Summer 2024!

Fanshawe College BIPV

Our Project Manager took on a short term site management role for a Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) installation on the Fanshawe Innovation project at Fanshawe College. (This was a German Energy Alternatives Inc. project - Great Company!) These solar panels look like regular glass, and the cassettes break up the system for an Architectural feature.  Solar power generation is the most economical energy today.

By incorporating BIPV not only are energy costs stabilized for the future, but there are additional savings by not investing in other building cladding systems that do not have future benefit. When your building cladding generates power, it becomes the economical choice for the long term!

South West LHIN Clean Room

In 2016 we managed a warehouse renovation project for a medical compounding facility in the South West LHIN area. A clean room environment is necessary for applications where it is important to prevent contamination of products. Electronic manufacturing, process testing, and medical / pharmaceutical compounding all need sterile dust free environments to ensure the quality of the products and to prevent possibly harmful contamination.

The completed project included a state-of-the-art clean room. When one installs a clean room system, it is important to have experienced professionals who understand both building systems and clean room systems to integrate the installation.  If the building systems are not spec’d to feed the clean room properly, there can be certification issues down the road.

The completed clean room continues to serve the SW LHIN to this day.

Green Vista Condos

In Niagara we placed 2300 cubic metres of concrete to a finished floor. It was a strategic choreographed event that was a ballet of concrete trucks with constant output of two pumpers. We are grateful for the assistance of two dedicated concrete plants, plus some overflow capacity from a third plant. We successfully finished with less than two metres of wasted concrete in the last truck, from 290 trucks in a 16-hour overnight shift.

This 10-storey condo building has many innovation opportunities. The building could have implemented Building Integrated Photo Voltaic (BIPV), geothermal heating and cooling, a green roof, and a biodigester to take advantage of the grass clippings from the adjacent golf course.
